Core Handgun: Beginner
Brand new, or coming back after a long break. Start here.
Service Description
I'm glad you're here. This course is for folks who are brand new to handguns, coming back after a long break, or who just want a clean foundation before any further training. No experience is required, and none is assumed. Here's my promise to you: you will not be asked to do anything you're not prepared to do safely. Everything in this course is taught, demonstrated, and practiced before we ever go to live fire. There's no pressure, no competition, and no tactics. My single objective is that you leave here safer, more confident, and ready for more training if you decide you want it. One more thing about how I teach. If I say something that does not make sense to you, or you think there is a better way, speak up. Your questions are how you learn, and they keep me honest. If I ever cannot tell you why we do a thing, that is a sign I do not understand it well enough myself, and you deserve better than that. My aim is that you understand the why behind every step, so the skill is yours to keep and not just something you copied from me for a day. What you will learn: • How a handgun works, in plain language • The Four Universal Firearm Safety Rules and how to apply them • How to safely load, unload, and verify the condition of a handgun • A stable shooting stance and a proper two-hand grip • How to identify your dominant eye and use it • Sight alignment and sight picture for iron sights, with a note on red dots • Smooth trigger control and consistent follow-through • How to conduct yourself on a live-fire range I keep this course intentionally neutral. It doesn't assume a use case, a profession, or a carry method. That part is your business. My job is the foundation. This is the front door to the Core Series. Everything else builds on it. Students who complete the course receive a certificate of completion. Every student signs the FTA Release and Waiver, the release we use for all HTS classes, before training begins.
